What can Mass Spec do for you?

The Montana State Mass Spectrometry (MSMS) Core Facility (RRID:SCR_012482) provides instrumentation and methods for mass spec based research at MSU and beyond. The facility houses seven mass spectrometers that enable mass analysis of a range of analytes; e.g. volatiles and semi-volatiles, biomolecules, environmental contaminants, and elements. Common applications performed include untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics, small molecule quantitation, and elemental compositional confirmation.

Services

A non-inclusive list of our services. Please visit our instrumentation page for a full list of services.

  • LC-MS Metabolomics
  • LC-MS Lipidomics
  • ICP-MS: total metals, single elements, laser ablation
  • Compound specific assays using MS and NMR
  • Accurate mass using ESI-MS and LC-MS/MS
  • MALDI-MS GC-MS analysis for volatile compounds
  • Intact protein molecular weight

If your research needs mass spectrometry support in any way, please contact us.

Analyses that are not supported at this time: Unknown contaminants in bulk materials/excipients, reverse engineering of mixtures, proteomics.
