Buffalo Nations Food System Initiative
The Buffalo Nations Food System Initiative (BNFSI) is Indigenous-led and builds collective, collaborative, and proactive capacity for Indigenous food sovereignty. Drawing on the leadership and guidance from Buffalo Nations of the Northwestern Plains and Northern Rockies and founded on the principles of the Indigenous Research Initiative, BNFSI promotes the priorities of Native Nations through equitable Indigenous-led partnerships in research and education.

Building MSU Families

Building MSU Families program is a pilot program that is working towards connecting students with a mentor that works at MSU. The Building MSU Families program has an exciting opportunity for Indigenous students (nieces/nephews/relatives) and MSU faculty/staff (aunties/uncles/relatives) to develop relationships that build a sense of family and community during and after the students’ journeys at MSU.

Center for Bilingual and Multicultural Education
The goal of the Center for Bilingual and Multicultural Education is to support MSU students and faculty, but specifically those with a bilingual and/or a multicultural background. The CBME has worked closely and primarily with local Native American tribes and Native students, but is looking to expand to students and faculty of all backgrounds. For the last two years, they have hosted the successful Story Exchange events on campus. 

Center for Research on Rural Education
The faculty and students in MSU's Center for Research on Rural Education are on a mission to respond to the pressing concerns of small, rural, and remote schools and communities across Montana, the nation, and the world through carefully designed service and research. CRRE currently has a number of projects: Advancing Support, Preparation, & Innovation in Rural Education; Montana Rural Teacher Project; Expanding Rural Pathways; Youth Aware of Mental Health; Preparing Rural Counselors. 

Food Product Development Lab
The Food Product Development Lab develops healthy and eco-friendly food products that honor Indigenous and local communities and their foods through creative partnerships and innovations. The lab does food industry consulting and testing services, food science for Indigenous food sovereignty, pollution prevention in Montana's food industry, and sensory evaluation. 

Human Development Clinic
The Human Development Clinic provides low-cost mental health services to community members in the Gallatin Valley and serves as a training facility for our future counselors currently in the counseling graduate program.

Inclusive Community Camp
Inclusive Community Camp (ICC) is Bozeman’s first inclusive, active, creative and playful summer experience. ICC was designed to be a very intentional summer camp experience to help fill a void in our Bozeman community by providing a diverse camp environment with half of campers being students with disabilities/support needs and half of campers being students without disabilities/support needs.

LIFE Scholars
Learning is for everyone. LIFE Scholars is a 3-year, fully inclusive, non-degree certificate program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We want students to gain knowledge in their chosen career path, develop authentic, social relationships, explore careers through work and internships, and bbtain meaningful, competitive employment upon graduation.

McNair Scholars Program
The McNair Scholars Program serves the needs of 25 undergraduate students annually who are either first-generation, low-income, or minorities traditionally underrepresented in graduate School. A particular focus of the McNair Program is providing faculty mentorship, research and project opportunities, and financial support. 

Montana Kinship Navigator Program
The Montana Kinship Navigator Program serves Kinship Caregivers for the entire state of Montana. The program was founded in 2002 to offer kinship caregivers support, education and access to resources to assist caregivers in raising their children so they can live happier, healthier lives and can, in turn, raise children who know emotional and physical safety, excel in school and social situations and are prepared to take on the challenges of their new life.A kin family is a family that has taken in a child that is not biologically their own for a number of various reasons.

Montana Pollution Prevention Program
The MTP2 Program is dedicated to helping the state's small businesses, local governments and citizens use progressive, integrated pollution prevention (P2) strategies to increase productivity, while safeguarding our air, water, land and other natural resources by reducing pollution. MTP2 is funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Montana Science Olympiad

The Science Olympiad is a national competition that’s taken place in Montana for 40 years. This year, Montana State University hosted more than 800 students from 32 schools across the state. This competition is the premier STEM competition in Montana. 

Montana Team Nutrition
In collaboration with partners across the state, Montana Team Nutrition leverages evidence-based practices and policies to provide training, resources, and support to K-12 schools that promote engaging food-based education, foster positive food relationships, and cultivate healthy school environments. Their vision is to cultivate healthy Montana children and communities by shaping lifelong positive food and physical activity habits. 

National History Day

NHD's main program is a social studies competition where students in grades 6-12 choose a historic topic related to an annual theme, develop a thesis, and conduct extensive research using sources such as libraries, archives, museums, and interviews. Students then present individually or with a group, in the form of a documentary, exhibit, paper, performance, or website. Students may participate in school wide or local competitions, then a regional competition, and a state competition. 

Towne's Harvest Garden
The Towne's Harvest Garden is a five-acre diversified vegetable and educational research farm supporting a student-run, community-supported agriculture program. Towne's Harvest Garden promotes learning about food production, the value of eating and supporting local foods, community building, and individual empowerment. The Garden is named after the Towne family, one of the original homesteaders in the beautiful Gallatin Valley.

TRIO Student Support Services
The TRIO Student Support Service program at Montana State University - Bozeman is committed to increasing the rates of academic achievement, retention, and graduation among historically underrepresented students. This is accomplished by providing holistic and individualized support services that maximize students' innate abilities and draw upon available resources within, and outside of, the University to benefit students, families and the larger community.
