Overview

Campus Civil Rights (CCR) handles cases of protected class discrimination and sexual harassment that impact someone’s ability to be safe or successful in their role within the Montana State community. Volunteer Advocates with CCR will help create positive change within the community by being Student Resource Advocates and Peer Educators.

A minimum commitment of two academic semesters are requested. Student volunteers will receive training and education on topics such as civil rights, Title IX, campus resources, advocacy and support, and various additional trainings. Volunteers will be asked to work one or more 2-hour shifts per week and attend group meetings once a month.

There are two types of Student Volunteer positions in Campus Civil Rights: Peer Educators and Student Resource Advocates. This application is for Student Resource Advocates.

A Student Resource Advocate will be available to help all students understand their options if they have experienced any type of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or interpersonal violence.  Student Resource Advocates are responsible for answering questions about options and resources as well as making referrals to connect students with additional campus resources.  They will also help with programming around campus, such as information fairs, and tabling events on campus as needed.

If you have questions, please reach out to civilrights@montana.edu.
