Bracken Professionalism Award

Call for Nominations — Spring 2025

The Bracken Center is pleased to invite nominations for the Bracken Professionalism Award, which will be presented to one undergraduate student in the Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship who best exemplifies one or more elements of the Student Code of Excellence:
 
Performance. Respect. Integrity. Diligence. Engagement.

Award Details:

The recipient will receive a $1,500 scholarship and their name will be featured on a commemorative plaque in the Bracken Center.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a current undergraduate student majoring in business
  • Must show outstanding commitment to at least one aspect of the Student Code of Excellence
  • GPA is not a consideration for this award

How to Submit a Nomination:

Please email nominations to Bracken Center at brackencenter@montana.edu. You may nominate yourself or another student.

Deadline:

All nominations must be submitted by April 15, 2025.

Madeline Lewis

Madeline Lewis graduated in Fall 2020 with a double major in accounting and finance. Madeline was an active SURGE mentor who developed and executed the 1st Annual Jabs Halloween Party. Madeline was a mentor for all current and prospective students within the college and was selected as our 2019-2020 PRIDE award recipient for her exceptional level of commitment to the Jabs PRIDE code, specifically the engagement piece.

Peter Pfankuch

Peter Pfankuch graduated in Spring 2020 with a degree in Business Management and minors in Economics, Finance Entrepreneurship, and Small Business Management. Peter was selected for the Bracken PRIDE award for his incredible contribution to the community through his role in Brothers Helping Brothers, Warriors and Quiet Waters board member, and his leadership in DEI acceptance within the college.

Katya Peterson

Katya Peterson graduated in Spring 2017 with a degree in Business Management and Marketing. Katya was selected for the Bracken PRIDE award for her outstanding professionalism and engagement. Kayta was involved in numerous activities including coordinating the Bozeman Ted Talks, an active member of our award winning AMA chapter, an AdvoCat, and Honor student. 

Michelle Cassens

Michelle Cassens graduated in Spring 2016 with a degree in Business Management. Michelle was selected for the Bracken PRIDE award for her outstanding professionalism and engagement. Michelle co-authored a research paper the JJCBE faculty, was the firstJJCBE student to be named a Presidential EMerging Scholar and is also a Level 1 certified ski instructor, a certified wilderness first responder, and a property manager

Matthew Paoli-Asaro

Matthew Paoli-Asaro graduated in Spring 2015 with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Latin American and Latino Studies. Matthew was selected for the Bracken PRIDE award for his outstanding engagement. Matthew was a JJCBE TA, a member of the MSU Rugby club, second grade Spanish tutor, volunteer for the Community Cafe and Verge Theater, and MSU Advocat.

Kristina Bart graduated in Spring 2014 with a degree in Business Management. Kristina was selected as our 2013-2014 PRIDE award recipient for her exceptional level of commitment to the Jabs PRIDE code, specifically the engagement piece. Kristina was actively involved in the JJCBE as an officer in the SIFE/Enactus club, the Montana Blue Grass Project, she participated in the SEA Internships, and helped coordinate the start up weekends for the Freshman seminar.
